159 New Homes for Matamata

One of New Zealand’s largest property developers, Classic Developments, is stepping into the Matamata-Piako region for the first time, heading up a brand-new community – Ballina.

Part of the Classic Group, Classic Developments is partnering with Generation Homes and Classic Builders to bring this new community to life. Ballina will comprise 159 homes over 11.5 hectares with the first families expected to move into their new homes within the next two years.

Development Manager, Scott Keene commented “Ballina will be a great place for families as there is a lot to love about the area. This project has been a long time in the making and is a true collaboration between Classic Group and Generation Homes. We have also included Bay Civil Limited in our team as lead earthworks and civil contractors, with whom we have worked with for many years. We’re committed to providing quality living opportunities and are excited to be creating a new, vibrant neighbourhood synonymous with the wider community.”

Quality homes and quality build partners

Generation Homes has been heavily involved in a number of new housing projects in Matamata over the years. “We are proud to be involved in this partnership and enjoy providing new home solutions to the families and investors in this region,” says Managing Director Trevor Roberts. “Matamata has everything both young and older families need while also creating a real sense of community. Being within the commuter belt for both Tauranga and Hamilton, we are looking forward to working with Classic Developments to bring a range of new housing and outdoor spaces to this area.”

Strong architectural forms, natural materials, and contemporary detailing will define the aesthetic. Designed for a variety of residents, most of the homes will be standalone, with plenty of space for those that need it while those downsizing will appreciate smaller ‘lock and leave’ options. Comparative affordability has been a consideration in the planning of the development and shared open green space will be included for use by the community.

“Classic Builders has been building in and around Matamata for many years, predominately focusing on Design & Build homes. We are very excited to be realising our first sub-division within Matamata. It’s a great town and a thriving hub within the Waikato region. The master planning and urban design will allow us to provide affordable and healthy homes to more Kiwis”, says Rowan McKeany, General Manager Operations, Classic Builders.

Connected by name and nature

Accessible from Tower Road via access off the end of Bridie Ave, Ballina’s first homes will become available late-2023 and will be sold exclusively via House & Land packages by two providers, Classic Builders and Generation Homes. Ballina (pronounced ‘Bell-in-ah’) is the namesake of Matamata’s sister city, Ballina, in NSW Australia.

Matamata and Ballina have a close connection as sister cities, a concept created to champion peace and prosperity by fostering relationships between two communities in two countries, so it seemed very fitting to honour this link.

The land was recently blessed by Iwi representatives from Ngáti Hinerangi, Ngáti Haua and, Ngáti Rauwaka Iwi before earthworks commenced in early October.
